This began as a proof of concept to do a full live mix seamlessly mixing between projects on the Deluge for what would constitute an hour long set. I ended up stepping backwards through 10 of my most recent projects and then up a couple after I’d reached down to my newest set… So, I went from 248-238, then 249-251. I was transitioning blindly in the sense that I didn’t know what was coming next, which key it would be in, nor what level of intensity it would drop with. So, it was an experiment. One that, after several listens, I’m still enjoying and thought I’d share so you can, too. Enjoy!
Recorded on Friday, July 12, 2024 in San Francisco, CA, using a DJI Osmo Action Camera for the overhead and a Canon D60 for the Deluge-focused shot.
The Synthstrom Deluge sequencer/sampler/drum machine is featured here. Most of the songs have follow actions or are recorded onto the timeline. However, not on all sections as you can see in some vids, requiring some manual triggering and of course the macro programming, cueing and sequencing the songs. Otherwise the tracks are mostly there, not too much live improvising or anything in this series either. It’s more of a video cataloguing experiment.
The Akai Force is not routing any audio. Also my Pioneer RMX1000 was not being recorded (currently routed to the booth out, not record out) so there are no outboard effects either. Nor are the LPK25 or LPD8 active.
For all of the songs in the whole set – and more content – follow the vids below or check my YouTube Channel. Subscribe so you can be notified when new vids in this series will get posted every week until they’re all up. Enjoy and cheers!
Stay tuned! There’s more to come as the weeks progress. The mix is currently scheduled to be fully uploaded by November 29, 2024. Although I’ve been editing the videos out of the main vid and re-syncing them for each track, so they’re not all done yet. They were, but then I redid the end screen and then found some syncing issues and more footage to add to the end of the mix and recut.
Enjoy!
