Halfway through the year already! I have been on a production tear lately. Mostly trying to learn my gear really well. Lately it’s been using the Synthstrom Deluge since I’m about to go on a roadtrip and want to feel comfortable with just that. Before that, it was with the Akai Force and using that to aggregate and compose with a DSI Tempest, the aforementioned Deluge, Korg Electribe 2 and ER-1, Yamaha RM1X, Roland VT-3 and Yamaha CS as primary sound generators and a Pioneer RMX-1000 as a master effect. Sometimes into Ableton as multi-tracked arrangements, other times arranged on the hardware and recorded as a 2-channel mix down. Always chasing that ever-elusive sound, too. That sound!! Ever changing, too, where the inspiration comes from whether it be 80s emo-synth-pop, techno, house or psychedelic squatch party ear candy type of grizzle, it definitely has a way of guiding my production.
Disclaimer – the above contains unreleased and pretty raw DEMO level material. I make no claim now to it being in any kind of “final” or mastered form, but rather a semi-concise format to engage with most of the tracks I’ve written (with a few exceptions) during the first six months of 2021. Some of the mixes are a bit raw as well. And already after listening to it many times by now, I can recognize some of the levels are not perfect. But it’s got a good variety of styles, good depth and great energy. Give it a play and let me know what you think!
